There are just a handful of actors who started their careers before the age of 3, and Jerry is one of them. He began his career at the age of 2 as a model for a department store advertisement. He went on to appear in movies like The Seven Little Foys and The Trouble with Harry, but his most prominent role was in the sitcom Leave it to Beaver when he was only 9 years old! Mathers had to retire at an early age to concentrate on high school.

It was when he worked in a bank as a commercial loan officer that he began his career in real estate development. In 1978, he decided to reenter the entertainment industry. He appeared as the lead actor in a comedy play, Boeing Boeing. His reunion with the Still the Beaver cast marked his second success and the cast went on to star in its sequel series, which in 1983. He married twice but eventually found the love of his life in 2011.
