Voight is famous for numerous reasons, including winning four Golden Globe Awards, one Academy Award, and being the father of actress Angelina Jolie and actor James Haven. His career began in the early 60s with his appearance in several episodes of Gunsmoke, but his career was stagnant until he was cast in the film Midnight Cowboy. His role in the film had been very controversial but historic as well. With his newfound popularity, he made his way in the entertainment industry with even more interesting roles on shows such as The Defenders, Twelve O’clock High, and Cimarron Strip.

Voight was estranged from his children, but they reconciled in 2007 after the passing of his ex-wife. Though he was seen dating other women after his second separation, he never remarried.
